St John's School

St John's was very clear about one of its key goals when it considered re - equipping its Reprographics Department: it needed to produce student reports as high - quality A5 booklets. The production of the booklets was only the start of the requirement. They had to be printed, folded and stapled by the printer or multifunctional producing them as no staff member would be available to finish them. Furthermore, the system had to prove its compatibility with the specialised software used to write the reports. ITQ was able to support all these requirements with a single networked multifunctional. It worked closely with the software developer to iron out any compatibility issues prior to installation so the reprographics staff at St John's were productive from day one of the deployment. To capitalise on the new equipment, a training program was rolled out over a six - week period to ensure that the operators were fully conversant with new facilities it offered. The initial deployment was so successful that it has since been followed by the installation of a further six monochrome and three colour multifunctionals. ITQ has configured all of the devices to support network printing and scanning. Its Print Control Solution simplifies device management and access.

One of the ways St John's keeps its reprographics costs low is by allocating costs to the department that originated the work. In this way, department heads can track their own spending and take appropriate action to reduce costs. The allocation and accounting process has been dramatically simplified by ITQ's Print Control Solution which monitors the documents produced and automatically produces a usage and allocation report at the touch of a button. What used to be a time - consuming task is now simple and almost instant.

The school's multifunctionals are also equipped with network scanners capable of turning them into effective communications hubs for electronic as well as printed documentation. By linking into the school's email system, teaching, administration and reprographics staff can easily scan and send documents to other staff members, departments or ad hoc groups. By distributing information digitally, the school is able to reduce printing costs and broadcast information more rapidly than was previously possible.

St John's is a co-educational comprehensive for students between the ages of 11 and 18. It is set in the historic town of Marlborough and has over 1,600 pupils. It has built a reputation as a caring school which sets very high academic standards in a disciplined environment.

  • No facility to allocate print costs by department

"We were confident ITQ's solution would give us the reports we needed. That they would be so simple to produce was a bonus." Barry Worth Bursar, St John's School

"We have been very impressed by the help from ITQ, their technical ability and after sales service." Barry Worth Bursar, St John's School
